Venue - Bodhisattva Buddhist Centre


The retreats take place at Bodhisattva Buddhist Centre in Brighton. The Centre offers a beautiful and peaceful setting and provides ideal conditions for retreat. Bodhisattva Centre is a 40 bedroom Grade II listed building, set in nearly two acres of grounds.

Meditation Room

Weekend retreats are held in one of our meditation rooms. The room is houses a stunning 8 foot statue of Buddha, and is comfortable, airy and bright. Retreaters can choose to meditate sitting on cushions on the floor or on chairs.

Accommodation

To gain maximum benefit and to be fully immersed in retreat, many people choose to stay at the Centre. We offer comfortable single, twin and dormitory accommodation. Bedding and towels as well as tea and coffee making facilities are provided in single and twin rooms. If you are staying in a dormitory, please bring a sleeping bag and towel (a sheet and pillow is provided).

Meals & refreshments

All meals are provided during the retreat. Meals are vegetarian, home cooked and delicious. During breaks our café is open for you to purchase drinks and snacks.

Peace Garden

Despite being located within easy walking distance of Central Brighton, our large gardens ensure that Bodhisattva Centre is a haven of quiet and peace in the city.

Parking is available at Bodhisattva Centre for guests.

Conditions of your stay

Bodhisattva Centre is a residential Buddhist College. You will be staying in the same building as ordained monks and nuns and lay Buddhist practitioners. We require all guests to refrain from drinking alcohol, eating meat or fish or smoking anywhere on the Centre property. Retreats listed on this website are not silent, however since the Centre is a haven of peace for residents and guests we request guests to be mindful of noise in the residential areas of the building. There are no televisions or radios at the Centre, so you can truly enjoy a break from the normal business of life.

Surrounding Area

Bodhisattva Centre is located just within the border of Hove. We are about a 15 minute walk from Churchill Square - the main shopping centre in Brighton, and 5 minutes from the beach.

Direction By car - from the M25, take the M23, this leads into the A23 which continues to Brighton beach. When you reach the sea front (Palace Pier), turn right. Continue for about 1 mile. Turn right to Lansdowne Place, straight over the road, at the second junction turn right along Lansdowne Road. Our driveway entrance is opposite the top of Cambridge Rd. Parking is available at the Centre.

By train - Brighton station is only 50 minutes from London Victoria. Several trains each hour run from London to Brighton By taxi - approx £5 from Brighton station
